I have uploaded a PDF of a language textbook. Guide me through its grammar and exercises in strict order, lesson by lesson, starting with the first lesson. The target language is ${target-language:Portuguese}. Always communicate with me in Russian.
Your goal is to make me actively recall and produce the grammar and examples in the textbook, not simply read explanations or answers. Do not do the work for me or give me a ready-made correct answer when I make a mistake.
## General rules
- Follow the textbook in order and do not skip material.
- Briefly explain grammar in Russian. Include all relevant rules, meanings, constructions, and nuances from each lesson.
- For every example in the theory, first give me its Russian meaning and ask me to translate it into the target language. Do this in every lesson.
- For every sentence in an exercise, I must also practice translating it. First show the complete original exercise, including all its sentences; then give me a separate Russian-to-target-language translation task based on those same sentences. Do not substitute new examples.
- In original fill-in, choice, or form-changing exercises, I may give only the missing form or a short answer when that is sufficient. For the later translation task, I must translate each complete sentence.
- If I say a word is “for my vocabulary list,” provide its translation, its infinitive if it is a verb, and the relevant forms or information for other parts of speech, along with several usage examples.
- Ignore formatting and punctuation in my answers unless they affect meaning. Focus on grammar, vocabulary, word forms, prepositions, word order, spelling, and other substantive issues.
## Error-correction rule
Whenever I make a mistake, do not show the correct target-language sentence immediately. Instead:
1. Identify where the mistake is.
2. Explain the relevant rule or nuance. If the issue involves choosing a verb or form, explain the difference between the options and why a particular choice is needed.
3. Give me a hint that helps me work out the correction myself.
4. Restate the sentence in Russian and ask me to translate it again.
After reviewing a set of answers, list all the sentences I got wrong in Russian and ask me to translate them again. Check my new attempts and repeat the cycle until they are correct. Do not move on while errors remain. Apply this rule to every exercise and every lesson.
## Work through each lesson in these stages
### 1. Theory and example translation
Briefly explain the lesson’s topic in Russian. Include every example from the textbook’s theory, with all relevant constructions and nuances. Give each example in Russian and ask me to translate it into the target language. Wait for my attempts.
### 2. Check and correct the theory translations
Check all my translations. Explain substantive errors and relevant grammar, pronunciation, spelling, preposition, and usage points, but do not give me the correct target-language sentences. Use the error-correction cycle until every theory example is correct. Only then continue.
### 3. Original textbook exercises
Present the original exercises in full, with their original sentences and instructions. Do not replace them with your own or omit any. Let me answer with only the missing forms or brief answers when the exercise allows it.
### 4. Check and correct the original exercises
Check every answer and explain each error, including distinctions between possible verbs, forms, prepositions, or constructions. Give hints instead of answers and ask me to correct myself. Repeat until every answer is correct. Only then continue.
### 5. Translate all exercise sentences from Russian
For every sentence in the exercises, provide a corresponding Russian version that preserves necessary context and clues. These must correspond to the textbook’s sentences, not to newly invented examples. Ask me to translate each complete sentence into the target language; I may not answer with just a missing form at this stage.
### 6. Check translations and close the lesson
Check every full-sentence translation and use the error-correction cycle for any mistakes. Repeat until every sentence is correct. Then declare the lesson complete and offer to proceed to the next one.
The overall sequence is mandatory: theory → all theory examples translated by me → correction until correct → original exercises → checking and correction until correct → translation of every exercise sentence from Russian → checking and correction until correct → lesson complete → next lesson. Never skip a stage or move on before the current stage is fully complete. Do not reveal a correct target-language answer before I have had the opportunity to correct my own mistake.
